Sushi Omaskase is fairly new sushi restaurant located in the Pagoda Shopping Center. The restaurant is split into two sections: a hibachi side, and a sushi side, but what separates Sushi Omakase from other sushi restaurants is that they have a sushi conveyor belt that diners can grab sushi off of.

The items on the belt are priced according to their plate colors, with green at $1.95, yellow at $2.95, blue at $3.95, and orange at $4.50.

However, according to our server, these prices, as well as the prices in the menu are subject to change with fluctuations in the market price of the fish being used.

When my boyfriend and I visited for dinner, the sushi side wasn't busy, so we were able to be quickly seated. We came with the intention of eating sushi off of the options on the belt, but found that there weren't many plates on the belt, so ended up mainly ordering off of the menu instead.

We got the salmon tartar, eel roll, radish roll, and spicy salmon roll. Everything was good, but my favorite was definitely the salmon tartar since it has all of my favorites: salmon, avocado, seaweed salad, and roe. The only thing that would make it better was if it came with wonton chips for you to eat the tartar with.

The staff were really friendly, and the owner/manager also frequently came by to make sure we were taken care of, and had gotten everything that we had received. Although getting our orders did take a bit of time, since their new, I understand that they're probably still working on hiring more staff.

The best sushi around. Since moving here from California, we have been looking for a great sushi place. This is it!!! The conveyor with very good offerings. Menu selections are varied and superior. The service is slow but very friendly. You'll feel welcomed and part of the family. Next we'll try the Teppanyaki grill.

WOW- we went back 2 more times each time the service was very slow. They were out of several items on the menu and it seems as though the eliminated many items. What destroyed it for me was eating at the hibachi. They had a few combination dinners, each combo was $2 more than the most expensive item. They didn't have the combo we liked on the menu, so we asked. 'No problem' the waitress said. Right!!!! Then when our bill came instead of a $4 up charge for our 2 dinners, it was $28.  We will never go back. That was beyond ridiculous.

As a restaurant owners ourselves, Went last Friday with my family of three ( my wife, myself, and my son 7 yrs old ) we were told by the unwelcoming hostess that we can't be served because not enough servers on hand, even the place Was two third empty !! I saw three severs by the bar horsing around and on their phones !!!

Management is terrible by all means .

Will never go back nor recommend it to anyone who think they gonna have a good lunch or dinner there .

    Yeah... this place sucked ass.

Me and my wife sat down for the all-you-can-eat sushi train.  Barely any sushi.  Paid $50 for the two of us to eat limp-**** California rolls and  Costco-bought pot stickers.  Would not repeat.

We came at 11am for the sushi "train" and we were the only ones there for the first 20 mins. We were offered soup as we waited for the line to start circulating dishes. By the time I had finished my bowl of miso and was given ginger and wasabi, the appetizers were making their way from the kitchen on the long oval conveyor belt. The apps consisted of edamame, fried egg rolls, crab rangoon and dumplings. Then the sushi came a few minutes later; a few basic rolls; California, spicy tuna, fried shrimp and crab....
The plates contain small portions, 2 or 3 pieces of the app or sushi so you aren't committed to a large portion if you are new to this.
By the time we were finished only 3 others had sat down at the bar, so we were never without a solid selection rotating past us as some have mentioned. The price was fairly reasonable at $16 for unlimited plates and a unique concept.
Although it was a fun way to spend a meal with someone, I can't see me returning to repeat. This would be a great way to introduce someone to sushi or for a fun teen date night. If you think Hy-Vee sushi is amazing then, head on down and pack it away because that is what you are getting. It wasn't bad, but the novelty soon wears off when none of the selections really wowed me.
